The Language of Violence
Brought to you from my car because it’s the only quiet place in my life….
Ladies, if you are not used to cussing, this video is for you. Keep an open mind and don’t let the first time someone says something heinously grotesque be the cause of your hesitation in action. Much love to you. #pottymouth #gothamcity #razorbladedancing #worddrills #badguyscuss #healthybuffalo #thebuffalohasapottymouth #mymomsaystoilettongue #fighhtback

Shivworks El Nino & Fox Karambit Review
My EDC is a Fox Karambit folder with a wave. I recently was able to test out my new Shivworks El Niño Push knife and it truly performed. Had a blast making this video, both are amazing knives. if you are just starting out and want a blade for self protection that is simple deployment and works well with leggings, skirts and jeans, I would 100% recommended the Shivworks El Niño.
Karen Takes Fieldcraft Survival & Rogue Methods Courses
I have had the privilege now to take gun courses from Shivworks, Fieldcraft Survival, and Rogue Methods. I have learned a vast amount and have had an absolute blast. This video is poking fun at myself and just a goofy spoof. If you don’t follow all of the above, you should. They all offer amazing training, tips, and life saving information and are truly awesome people to get to know. Knife Control Concepts/Craig Douglas spoof video
A little fun from ECQC last weekend. Thank you Craig Douglas for being such a good sport! Also the El Niño Push Dagger by Shivworks is pretty damn great. Was able to test it out in an evolution that weekend and I am pretty stinking pumped about it. #knifecontrolconcepts #selfdefenseyaf #elninopushdagger #southnarc #thisisnotreal #obviouslyiamnoexpert #ihateshadowboxing #oysteropener #iwillawaremywayoutofthis #stillnotjumpingrope #takeKCCwithAaronJannetti
ECQC WOmen- Demon Killers
“We all have inner demons to fight, fear, and hatred, and anger. If you do not conquer them then a life of one hundred years is a tragedy. If you do, then a life of a single day can be a triumph,” Yip Man. Tears are not gender biased. The things that are pulled from the dark recesses of your mind while kicking, punching, and blasting energy on your back in the mud are paramount. I have heard so many healing stories from men and women alike who speak of flashbacks; this exact moment in the fight during ECQC is where they claim they met the beginning point of recovery. They fought themselves to put on the helmet, they panicked, they scrambled, they cried, they rolled through horrific memories they thought best left alone and untouched, then they faced them head on while screaming in frustration, and then they overcame. Maybe not that exact day, but the next they showed up. They stood there, put on the helmet again, they shoved the fear back down their throat and fought their Goliath by making the decision to throat punch their past and move. This class does that. This class gives that back.
there is no funny title for grooming
What does body autonomy have to do with self defense? Quite a bit actually, in fact I would go so far as to say it’s a cornerstone in a good foundation for safety. How do we as parents help our children to draw lines for themselves? How do we as women set a standard to stand up for ourselves when it’s maybe seems too aggressive or confusing in our heads?
Fight like a victorian
Once upon a time a large bulk of Chicago politicians decided to put an ordinance in place limiting the use of ladies hairpins. The ordinance in 1910 stated that the hatpins could not be longer than nine inches and must have a cap on the pointed end thus rendering useless the effectiveness of using them as a weapon for self defense. Instead of making the streets safer for the now emerging women in the workforce, they decided to arrest them for fighting back.
Going on a Bear Hunt
If you are a range aficionado then this video is not for you. This is for those who have never been and might have a slight interest to check one out. This is for those who may have never fired a gun due to being uncomfortable or lack of options to try. I was incredibly surprised at how much fun I had going to the range, I was super impressed with Tammy’s expertise and the way she taught and adjusted how I shot. She was very knowledgeable and kind in how she spoke. There was never a question too dumb, and trust me, I meet that quota often. If you have never been to a range I highly recommend it, also it might be the only place you can buy some damn ammo... Know your state laws for carrying in and out of the range. I was reading through several states range laws and they were incredibly convoluted so if you don’t know make sure you call and ask. If you have any questions I may likely not know the answer but I can definitely get you in touch with someone who can! If you want a private lesson with Tammy in the Kansas City area you can connect with her here. @realwomenshoot PrimerPeak.com @healthy.buffalo

I wanted to know so I went out and learned. The Pistol that killed Abraham Lincoln. Nothing blew up in my face so success. Laughed the whole time I made this video.
Getting Chucked by Wrestler Guy (AKA Knife Control Concepts Assignment #3)
For the past couple of months I have been taking Aaron Jannetti’s Knife Control Concepts Instructors Course. It is geared more towards the gray area of a knife fight meant to build on things you already know. It’s about using the momentum of the other person for controlling the situation and it has been top notch. I originally started it because I had trained a couple times with and then under Aaron and always came away with something monumental to approach martial arts. The idea of movement had been something I had been rolling in my head for sometime and this class has been amazing on capitalizing on that. This assignment was about making a contribution to something I honestly felt I had nothing to contribute because I was constantly amazed at how well put together the course was as well as the content. Either way I still had to come up with something and I love the reality of how often I learn things from so many different perspectives. When Gavin approached me it was in a very humble and neat way that I was instantly interested in what he had to say. He may not know that yet because he is in his early 20’s and consumed by MMA at the moment, but that’s a really good mark of an effective teacher. I am very appreciative of him coming up to me in the first place and also the simplistic aspect of this take down. Note: I have heard that ankle pick is not the correct name, I did however Google ankle pick from Russian tie and got literally 100 different videos of random moves so meh, call it what you like and then pull it off.
THe Foundry Fighting and Fitness
Spent the month of May in sunny Beaufort, SC with The Foundry Fighting and Fitness. It was awesome, I ate my weight in Key Lime Pie, we learned a ton, my kids became golf ball hustlers and alligator chasers, and we all made long lasting friendships. Already looking forward to next year. If you are in the area and looking for an awesome place to learn self defense, check them out, you won’t be disappointed. Tell them we said hi and eat some key lime pie for me. Aftermath Podcast
What is the drive? How can we be restored after an assault? Inspired by the comments of healing veterans from listening to Ryan Fugitts Podcast, "Combat Story" I started, "Aftermath." Here I interview women and men and hear their stories of assault either after having been trained, or if the event led them to start self-defense. I am in awe of their fortitude and encouraged to keep moving forward. I hope you will be too.
"Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long.
We KEEP MOVING FORWARD, opening up new doors and doing new things,
because we're curious....
and curiousity keeps leading us down new paths."

Brooke Hughes Interview
Brooke is a Krav Maga Black Belt and BJJ Blue Belt. She is also the founder of Find the Fight Within and teaches at Endeavor Self Defense in Hilliard, OH. I first met Brooke at Unlisted through Fit to Fight in Charlotte, NC. I had broken my thumb and we were running drills in the shoot house bedroom with sirt pistols; basically we slammed each other against the walls and bed and then later we moved to vehicles.
She is funny, engaging, humble, and open with a deep desire to constantly learn and share. She understands fully what it means to be completely ripped out of your comfort zone and continue to fight through the tears. Brooke was attacked by her brother a few years ago and was willing to sit down and talk with me about that experience; the fears, the physical, the freezing aspects, and the aftermath.
This project has become very dear to me due to the healing I have seen through sharing. You are not alone.

Larani Thexton
Right now the world is closely watching the Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie case; so many people have questions and opinions. Some relate heavily to the police footage of Gabby crying in the car and others are just plain outraged.
Larani shares a story with me of being attacked by a taxi driver in Mumbai. We then discuss the differences of fighting back when it's a stranger verses fighting back when in a toxic relationship.
She is open, fun, honest, and relatable. She holds nothing back, even in the situations where she feels she failed.
